Program structure

ELICOS levels

Each ELICOS level is delivered over two 5-week modules, requiring a total of 10 weeks of study per level. On successful completion of a 10-week block, students can expect to see a 0.5 improvement in their IELTS score. Assessment is based on coursework, exams, and meeting minimum attendance requirements.

As you progress through each level, you will develop and refine the following essential skills to prepare for future studies and career success:

  • English Listening Skills: Enhance your ability to understand spoken English in academic and everyday contexts.
  • English Reading Skills: Build confidence in reading and analysing academic texts.
  • English Writing Skills: Learn to structure and express ideas clearly in written English.
  • English Speaking Skills: Improve fluency and accuracy in verbal communication.
  • Australian Study Skills: Gain insights into academic expectations and practices in an Australian learning environment.

The English for General Purposes (EGP) course is designed for students at the beginner level of English who wish to build a strong foundation in the language. This program focuses on improving everyday communication skills, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing, to help students gain confidence in using English in real-life situations.

The course provides a supportive learning environment where students can:

  • Develop their basic vocabulary and grammar.
  • Practice conversational English for day-to-day interactions.
  • Build essential skills for further English language study.

This course serves as an excellent starting point for students preparing to progress to higher-level English studies, such as the English for Academic Purposes Preparation (EAPP) course.

The English for Academic Purposes Preparation (EAPP) program is designed to help students transition to studying intermediate-level English. This course lays the groundwork for academic success by building essential language skills and preparing students for the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program.

Through the EAPP program, students will:

  • Strengthen their foundational skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
  • Develop a basic understanding of academic language and concepts.
  • Gain confidence in tackling more complex English studies.

The EAPP program provides a supportive environment for learners, ensuring they are well-prepared to progress to the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course.

Our English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses, based on the Navitas English curriculum, are designed to equip students with the English language skills essential for academic success. With three progressive levels, the EAP program focuses on developing key skills in academic writing, reading, listening, and speaking.

Students will also enhance their understanding of essential academic genres, study techniques, and exam preparation skills, ensuring they are well-prepared for an English-speaking tertiary environment.

Levels:

  • English for Academic Purposes 1 (EAP 1):
Aligned with B1+ Independent User on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
  • English for Academic Purposes 2 (EAP 2):
Aligned with B2 Independent User on the CEFR.
  • English for Academic Purposes 3 (EAP 3):
Aligned with B2+ Independent User on the CEFR.

Each level builds on the last, helping students progressively master the skills needed for academic success.
